There are 65 Union/Employer training centres throughout the province, offering close to $200 million worth of investments in training every year. Adapting to new technologies and acquiring on-the-job experience goes hand-in-hand with safety and the prevention of occupational injury and illness.
We work hard to ensure that today’s apprentices have the supports they need to learn their trade and do so safely. Building on a legacy of strong skills development, we must ensure that the next generation of workers succeeds in attaining Journeyperson status. Investments in skills training are therefore crucial, and our Council advocates strongly for continued industry support towards on-the-job training programs for apprentices, as they begin rewarding careers in the trades.
